Testing the BT09 Battery Motion Sensor Lights

Testing the BT09 Battery Motion Sensor Lights

VST Lighting recently had tested some BT09 battery powered lights with motion sensor. Those lights turn on automatically when they detect motion, making them super handy for closets, cabinets, and other spaces.

For the test, I looked at the 200mm, 300mm, and 440mm size BT09 lights. The key things I wanted to check were:

How long it takes to fully charge the lights
How long the lights last on a full charge
How the indicator lights show charging status
To test this, I fully charged each light, turned it on to the highest setting, and timed how long it stayed on before shutting off automatically. I also timed how long it took to recharge the light after it died.

Here's what I found:

The 200mm light took about 4 hours to fully charge, and lasted around 4 hours on a full charge. This equals about 480 30-second cycles.

The 300mm light took about 6 hours to fully charge, and lasted around 9 hours on a full charge. This equals about 1080 30-second cycles.

The 440mm light took about 8 hours to fully charge, and lasted around 9 hours on a full charge. This also equals 1080 30-second cycles.

While charging, the lights correctly displayed red while charging and green when fully charged.

I also tested the standby current when the lights are turned off. All models drew between 21-27uA, which is nicely low. The motion sensor still works in standby and temporarily boosts the current draw up to around 0.3-0.36mA for 30 seconds when triggered.

Overall, the BT09 performed well in testing. The different size models deliver solid runtimes, with quick recharge times. The indicators work properly, and standby current is nice and low. These lights should work great for closets, cabinets, hallways, and anywhere else you need automatic sensing.
